Commitment to Integrity
The Global Journal of Modern Surgery (GJMS) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. We follow the principles outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
Authorship & Contributorship
Authors must meet all four ICMJE criteria for authorship. Substantial contributions to conception, design, acquisition of data, or analysis are required. All authors must approve the final version and agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work.
Plagiarism & Originality
GJMS has a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism, including self-plagiarism and redundant publication. All manuscripts are screened before proceeding with the peer-review process. If plagiarism is detected at any stage, the manuscript will be rejected or retracted.
Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose all financial and personal relationships that might bias their work. This includes funding sources, consultancies, or stock ownership. A "Declaration of Interest" statement must be included in every submission.
Ethical Approval & Consent
Research involving human subjects must state that it was performed in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki. Authors must provide evidence of Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval and informed consent from patients, especially in Case Reports.
Handling Malpractice
In cases of alleged misconduct, GJMS follows COPE flowcharts. If evidence of misconduct is found, the Editor-in-Chief may:
- Reject the manuscript under review.
- Issue a formal "Expression of Concern" for published work.
- Issue a formal "Retraction" of the article.
- Inform the author's institution or funding body.
