Article Processing Charges
As a Gold Open Access journal, GJMS does not charge subscription fees. To sustain our operations and ensure high-quality production, we apply an Article Processing Charge (APC) to manuscripts that are accepted for publication after peer review.

Charges are only applied after a paper is officially accepted for publication. There are no submission fees.
Waiver & Discount Policy
We are committed to ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent the publication of important surgical research, particularly from under-resourced regions.
100% Waiver
Automatically granted to corresponding authors based in countries classified by the World Bank as Low-Income Economies.
50% Discount
Automatically granted to corresponding authors based in Lower-Middle-Income Economies.
Discretionary Waivers
Authors who do not qualify for automatic waivers but lack institutional funding (e.g., residents or independent researchers) may apply for a discretionary waiver. Requests must be sent to the Editorial Office at the time of submission.
Ethics Note: Editorial decisions are strictly based on scientific merit. Peer reviewers and editors are not notified of waiver requests during the review process.
